Affectionately known to many as “PK”, I was born and raised in Gainesville, FL Alachua County. I attended PK Yonge Development & Research School from K-12th grade and graduated as a “lifer” in 1984.
After graduating from High School at 17 years old I decided to join the military and serve in the Army as an Army Reservist. I am a proud Veteran. Retiring after twenty years of service I can honestly say that this experience instilleddiscipline, work ethic, and respect. The service gave me a profound sense of duty that helped to shape my career in law enforcement.
For the last 23 years, I have served in the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office holding many different positions including Patrol Deputy, Resource Deputy, Special Deputy for the US Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force and Inspector-Sergeant for the Office of Professional Standards. Currently serving as Sergeant in the Juvenile Relations Bureau, I understand that our youth are in dire need of leadership that they can look to for mentorship and guidance. I want to assure them that the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office will be there for them.
I have been an active partner at PASSAGE Family Church for over 17 years where I faithfully worship and serve as a Security Team Member, Global Missions Team leader, also served as a youth mentor. Being a mentor and servant leader extends outside of church and into my community. I currently volunteer as an assistant girls’ basketball coach at my Alma Mater PK Yonge since 2009 and served as the former Assistant Girls Basketball Coach at Eastside High School from 2007-2009. I am an avid outdoorsman with a particular love for bow hunting and fishing. I am an active member of various hunting clubs. I also practice martial arts at Urban Kenpo Karate as a second instructor with a rank of 4th-degree black belt.
It's important to be active in my hometown and give back to the community, in the same capacity that was poured into me growing up.
Growing up I watched my grandparents serve in their church and their community. This along with my parent's discipline, and guidance, and my faith as an unapologetic Christian, have
molded me into the man that I am today.
Alachua County is where my family calls home. This is where I work, volunteer, serve, and raise my kids.
This is home.
